BYOA for ads means you keep the agent.
Search "bring your own agent" and you mostly get software shops talking about IDEs. That is a real phrase. It is not this one.
BYOA for ads is simpler: the strategist stays in the tool you already pay for. The vendor is a pipe into the ad accounts you have connected, plus one dashboard so you are not opening a different Ads Manager for every network.
That is the opposite of a closed AI team. A closed team hires the agents for you, names them internally, and you approve the output. Fine if you wanted a staff. Useless if you already live in Claude, Cursor, or Hermes.
It is also the opposite of "we take a cut of spend." A percent-of-spend MCP is still a pipe. The meter is just tied to how much you advertise. BYOA as we use it is a flat subscription for the pipe.
This post is the definition. Plan math lives in the BYOA guide. The fee-model contrast — who taxes spend and who does not — is in How AI ad tools charge.
Three shapes, not one slogan

The market is selling three different products under adjacent words.
1. Closed team. Playad's public story. They hire the agents, name them internally, and you approve what comes back. You did not bring an agent. You rented a staff.
2. Percent of spend. The pipe exists. The bill scales with media. Zeely's up to 12% is the Meta partner-account path only — ads run through Zeely's partner setup. Their own-Meta path has no extra fee. Synter's 3% is after the first successful write and on top of Solo $20 or Scale $500, not instead of a subscription. If those vendor pages change, believe their current page over this post. The fee-model post keeps the public numbers and the hedges.
3. Bring your own agent. You keep Claude, Cursor, or Hermes. The vendor exposes tools and syncs performance. You write the brief. They execute the write and show you the dashboard.
If a landing page says "AI ads" and does not tell you which of those three you bought, you do not know what you bought.
What Lazy Ads BYOA actually is
Lazy Ads BYOA is $19/month billed annually, or $24 month-to-month. You get a 33-tool MCP bridge and no Lazy Ads AI. Your agent runs the strategy. Lazy Ads is the connector and the single multi-platform dashboard.
Starter+ is 45 tools — the bridge plus Lazy Ads AI. That contrast, and the rest of the card math, lives in the BYOA guide. REST starts at Growth. This page is not a second pricing table. It is the sentence that tells you whether BYOA is even the product you meant.
You keep the model, the thread, the brief, and the failure mode.

The vendor owns:
- One write path on nine networks — Meta (Facebook + Instagram), Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, Apple, Bing, ChatGPT, and Snapchat. Meta is one network. Do not count Facebook and Instagram as two.
- One read path / dashboard, so you are not hopping between nine native managers for a spend read.
- Auth on
https://mcp.lazyads.ai/mcp(Streamable HTTP). - A plan that does not pretend to be AI.
Free users have zero AI tokens. The free path is onboarding plus competitor ad browse. Paid BYOA still has zero Lazy Ads AI tokens. That is the product. If you wanted us to build the campaign, that is Starter.
What BYOA is not
BYOA is not a cheaper Starter. Starter is a different product: Lazy Ads writes the strategy, chats inside the product, and spends our tokens. BYOA does not.
BYOA is not an agency replacement. An agency still owns the brief, the taste, and the client call. A $19 pipe does not.
BYOA is not a Meta-only skill with a multi-network homepage. The write path is nine networks (Facebook + Instagram under Meta). If a vendor only writes Meta and shows nine logos, that is a homepage, not a pipe.
BYOA is not a percent of spend with a friendlier name. The bill does not move when you go from $1k to $20k in media. The media still goes to the networks. The subscription stays a subscription.
A 30-second test

Four questions. Answer them on the vendor page, not on the demo.
- Whose model writes the brief? Ours: yours on BYOA, ours on Starter+.
- Does the bill scale from $1k to $20k spend? Ours: no. Flat SaaS.
- Can I point Claude or Cursor at a documented MCP endpoint? Ours: yes.
https://mcp.lazyads.ai/mcp. - What does a free account actually get? Ours: onboarding plus competitor ads, not a generated campaign.
If the answers are "their named agents," "yes, a cut of media," "not really," and "a strategy you have no tokens to run," you are not looking at BYOA for ads. You are looking at a closed team or a spend tax.
FAQ
Is "bring your own agent" just an IDE phrase?
In most search results, yes. Software shops use it for editors you already pay for. BYOA for ads is the same idea pointed at ad accounts: you keep the agent, the vendor is the pipe. Do not buy an ads product because an IDE vendor used the letters.
Is BYOA a closed AI team?
No. A closed team hires and names the agents. You approve output. BYOA assumes you already live in Claude, Cursor, or Hermes and do not want a second staff inventing a plan you will rewrite. Setup for those clients is in the MCP post.
Is BYOA a percent of spend?
No. A percent-of-spend MCP is still a pipe. The meter is tied to how much you advertise. Lazy Ads BYOA is a flat subscription for the pipe: $19/month annual, $24 monthly. How other vendors meter spend is in the fee-model post. If their pages change, believe their current page.
Do I get Lazy Ads AI on BYOA?
No. Free has zero AI tokens. Paid BYOA still has zero Lazy Ads AI tokens. The 33-tool bridge creates, edits, pauses, and monitors. If you wanted Lazy Ads to build the campaign, that is Starter (45 tools). Plan math is in the BYOA guide.
What do free users get?
Onboarding and competitor ad browse. Not a generated campaign. Not an MCP key. Subscribe on pricing when you want the pipe.
Keep the agent you already pay for
If you wanted a staff, that is a closed team. If you wanted the bill to track media, that is a spend tax. If you wanted BYOA for ads — your Claude, Cursor, or Hermes, a 33-tool MCP pipe, nine networks. No Lazy Ads AI. BYOA is the plan that says that out loud.
Start free the honest way: finish onboarding and browse competitor ads. When you want the pipe, subscribe to BYOA on pricing. Point the client at https://mcp.lazyads.ai/mcp. Then let your agent write the brief.
